CHOICE - Continuous Healthcare in OsteoporosIs CasE-finding
About the project
With demographic changes, increasing health care dependency ratios, and rising prevalence of comorbidities, innovative approaches are urgently needed to sustain equitable and high-quality care.
To address these critical challenges in osteoporosis care for the elderly, CHOICE will implement the fully automated clinical decision support system, FREM_ML, to predict imminent fracture risk.
The vision of CHOICE
The vision of CHOICE is to create a paradigm shift for osteoporosis management and fragility fractures by changing from episodic case-finding to continuous, automated data-driven risk factor monitoring. This will be achieved through the implementation of FREM_ML, which enables automated and scalable risk assessment in general practice. Ultimately, this will increase length and quality of life for individuals at risk and reduce fracture-related healthcare costs.
The aims of CHOICE
- Reduce the burden of osteoporosis among elderly aged 45+ years.
- Improve current detection and management of individuals at high risk of osteoporosis through automated risk monitoring.
- Reduce the incidence of major osteoporotic fractures (MOF) and mortality, and improve treatment persistence and use of DXA scans among elderly Danish people.
- Adapt FREM_ML to Nordic countries to optimize and accurize predictions of fracture risks in Sweden and Norway.
